Occupational Therapy

As an inclusive profession, occupational therapy maximizes health, well-being, and quality of life for all people, populations, and communities through effective solutions that facilitate participation in everyday living (AOTA Vision 2025). At Resilient, we specifically focus on the brain-body connection by facilitating sensory experiences and coordinated movement. We aim to establish connections in the body that may have never developed on their own or restore connections that may have been disrupted by illness, injury, or other significant life events to help you live a meaningful and productive life. We utilize sensory experiences and movement to help your brain and body work more efficiently for you.

Resilient Occupational Therapy

At Resilient, we specialize in multi-sensory experiences and movements that work to strengthen the pathways between our body and brain. This helps us to navigate and understand our mind, body, and environment better at any age, allowing us to live a more meaningful and happy life. Our unique sensory and motor approach is aimed at helping and treating clients of all ages and stages of life.

Functional and Rehabilitative Strengthening, Conditioning, and Mobility

Functional movement focuses on restoring strength, endurance, and proper function of the musculoskeletal system with the goal of making it easier to perform everyday activities or tasks. An everyday activity or task is quite literally anything that you need to do or would like to be able to do during your day. Examples include but are not limited to: reaching into a cabinet for dishes, fastening buttons on your clothing, folding laundry, getting in/out of bed, cleaning the house, meal preparation, modifications to exercise programs, lifting car seats, etc. We will work together to identify what is keeping you from being able to complete these tasks and create a plan reintegrate them back into your life in a way that is safe and comfortable.

Pelvic Floor Therapy

Pelvic floor therapy addresses any dysfunction, imbalance (weakness or over activity), and/or significant changes of the muscles of the pelvic floor. When the muscles of the pelvic floor are out of balance or have undergone a significant change, it can result in symptoms such as, mixed incontinence, urgency and stress incontinence, pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, painful intercourse (dyspareunia), vaginismus, vulvodynia, fecal incontinence, and/or constipation. As pregnancy and delivery create changes in the pelvic floor and abdomen, pelvic floor occupational therapy is a great preparatory tool for prenatal mothers and a restorative tool for postpartum mothers. Pelvic floor therapy also addresses male pelvic pain. Suzanne’s goal is to work with you at your comfort level for assessment and treatment planning to provide an integrative approach for restoring your pelvic floor dysfunction with holistic treatment.

Child In Speech Therapy

Children and Youth

Behavior is like an iceberg…we only see the small portion above the surface. Below the surface are the feelings and emotions driving the behavior or difficulty completing tasks (academic, play or self-care). The mis- behavior or lack of performance we see is often a child's attempt to solve another problem of which we are unaware. These problems are often related to the body and brain's ability to work together and process sensory information from the outside world.
